I have been slaving away for the last month on an animation for a major online electrical retailer, and it’s VERY nearly time to reveal what it is I’ve been working on.
Be patient…
Here is a clue… 😀

IÂ couldn’t bloody believe it… apparently people quite regularly go to the TurboSquid website, purchase a model, and expect it to arrive in the post…
In their latest newsletter, they let us know that the TIWR (Thought It Was Real) refunds have gone down quite a bit! Does this mean we get more commission because their admin costs are lower?? Errrm, no… but pretty comedy nonetheless.
😀
The amazing latest work by Chris Jones on his photoreal human animation!! Some of the best and most impressive animation I’ve ever seen.. Especially considering it’s done by a one person team.
Some rather incredible plugins for LightWave brought to you by 3rdPowers… these bring some MUCH needed LightWave functionality, like lattice deformers, and easily animatable booleans… check out the video for more detail, and some awful music.
A quick share of some of my favourite works… Chris Jones and his incredible work… as well as all the great 3d work he does, the music is always composed by the clever bugger too!

An impressive feature-list for a small upgrade from 11.5.1 to 11.6, clearly showing the new LightWave Group’s commitment to the cause. Adding Alembic, CGFX Shaders, an awesome new Colour Picker, DPX Support, and many more impressive features.

A completely new piece of 3d software, that appears to have carved its very own little niché in the 3d software market, was released as a pre-release purchase at Siggraph 2013 this July. Only $399 apparently!
The software specialises where no other application has done in the past… so, it deals specifically with editing PointCache files after they have been calculated/animated/been put through all of their pre-processing stages. ChronoSculpt imports any popular formats of 3d objects and point cache files (including the latest Alembic OpenSource format developed at ILM) and then leaves you to sculpt away on the meshes, pinning objects, moving them, re-animating them etc. but all the edits stay in place during the course of any animation.
Totally in awe of the speed of the mesh sculpting, especially on a 12 million polygon model, but it’s the much-needed niché that it’s carved that I find most impressive. Who’d have thought such a unique and useful product would even be envisaged, let alone made possible by the clever bods (well, 2 programmers and 2 concept guys) at NewTek.
Good work guys… please follow the links below to get more info.

Here’s a nice new Image Sequence Viewer…. and guess what, it’s free too! It will view all the most useful image formats too, even .EXRs
Here’s the link:
Think I’m done with the gallery layout, thanks to JetPack plugin from WordPress! Those clever people.
Working on re-rendering the header images… it always takes longer than planned. Felt I had to re-light and re-texture some things too… oh, and re-model some bits as well.
Well, I’ve tweaked the theme quite a bit, and it’s working much better now… want to remove my face render from the header bit, it freaks me out every time it pops up in its random fashion.
